Hello this Rachel Karl, the Principal of Suite 4, and today I’m going to talk to you about how to get better results with your marketing. So, in the marketing world, we often talk about the 3 M’s of Marketing. That’s your Message, your Market, and your Media.

  1. First, you’ve got to figure out what your message is. That’s who you are, and what it is you’re trying to communicate—what you’re trying to get across.
  2. Once you’ve got that done, then you figure out your market. Who your ideal client is or your ideal customer—what that persona looks like. That means their demographics, how much they make, what kind of car they drive, things like that, and also their psychographics—what makes them tick. What makes them want to buy from you.
  3. Once you’ve got that figured out, then you figure out the media piece. So that’s, “How are we going to get the Message across to the Market?” Is that going to be with social media? With email marketing? Blogging? Through your website? Radio advertising? Whatever it might be, it’s the piece that gets the Message to the Market. It might be many of those all working together at the same time.

Once you have all your 3 M’s figured out and you agree on it, and your sales team agrees on it, and your marketing team agrees on it, then you’ve got to figure out how to measure it. It’s really important to get that measuring piece in place so that you can measurably grow your business.

I guarantee you once you have all of this place, you’re going to be able to deliver better quality leads to your sales team. It might not be more leads—it might, but it might not—but at least it’s going to be better qualified leads. So, trying putting all three of these pieces to work in your business, and in your marketing plan, and let me know what you think!
